You get an author's box!

I read somewhere that over 80% of adults want to write a book, but only 3% ever get to 'The End' of a draft. That means that 97% of people who want to write a book never finish.

Stats like that make accomplishments like getting my “author’s box” of books all the more rewarding.

It’s neat to touch it in paper form after editing it for so long. I almost feel like Shirley MacLaine in Terms of Endearment when she goes into the nursery to check on her baby and pinches her arm to make her cry to make sure she is still alive.

As long as I edited the book, it was alive—in one form or another. I guess it’s out in the world, living in a new form.

It’s odd not to have much to say after playing with 300 pages of words for over eight months. But I’m out of words at the moment—for this particular experience.
